This project was one of the individual assignments in RevoU as a practice of doing Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) and delivering the result in interactive dashboards (data visualization).

Background information

Airbnb is an American company that operates an online marketplace for lodging, primarily homestays for vacation rental and tourism activities. Airbnb stakeholders wanted to know what happened to the business in Singapore in the last 12 months and asked if there were any regions need development. They want the report in the form of a dashboard.

Objective
Create an interactive dashboard that summarizes room listing, host, review, and income estimation of AirBnB Singapore.

Analysis Method

Asking some crucial questions to be answered by charts and graphs in Tableau and Google Data Studio:

• How many room listings are there in Airbnb Singapore currently?

• How distributed are the room listings in the Singapore region?

• How many hosts have listed their rooms on Airbnb Singapore?

• How many reviews did we get in the last 12 months?

• How much income did we earn roughly in the last 12 months?

• From where did we get most of our income?

• Are there any regions that need improvement?

 

Insights 

As shown in the dashboard below, we got information here.​​

• Currently, there are 4220 room listings on Airbnb Singapore. Most of them are private rooms and entire homes/apartments. In addition, the central region became the most populated one (3386 listings). And Kallang has the highest number of listings (543 listings).

• Currently, there are 1127 unique hosts. Around 63% of them are single-listing.

• In the last 12 months, Airbnb Singapore has gained 4121 reviews in total. Out of all room listings, around 69% of them meet our target number of reviews.

• The total estimation of our income is 3501394 local currency. Focusing on the high-income group, we found that they mainly come from the Central Region and don’t have high daily prices.

Recommendation

There are two regions that need improvement

• Tuas in West Region
  It only had one room listing with a very high minimum booking price.

• Mandai in North Region
  It had a medium to high minimum booking price than other areas. There was no room listing for the lower economic class.

Airbnb needs to consider providing more room listings (low to mid booking price) in Tuas and Mandai by affiliating with more hosts.
